There is no typical interview, but . . .


There is no typical Legacy Life Videos interview. Each is quite unique. There is, however, a general “script” we have found to be successful at both creating a reasonably comprehensive record and at the same time allowing for flexibility in your telling your story. The general script flows something like this:

where and when you were born
family history, personalities, stories, your earliest recollections
parents (names, approximate ages, how they got together)
childhood, what you learned from your parents
school years
family life
faith
academics, athletics, activities, accomplishments
as a high school student, what you thought was ahead for you
higher education, professional/vocational training, military service
relationships, marriages (names, approximate dates)
children, grandchildren (names, approximate ages)
career/s, professional or vocational accomplishments
interesting experiences, travel
health
things that worked out well for you, things that were fun
challenges, what you did to meet the challenges
what you have come to believe to be true about life
what you see ahead for you, things you want to accomplish
what has been the best of the best for you
When we are running toward the end of the conversation, we typically end with this question: “Today we are making a record which will last for a long time. To those watching this conversation many, many generations from now, what would you have them know about you?” This is a cue to you that we are within a few minutes of the end of the interview, so please keep in mind that time is running short.

We want this experience to be rich and fun for you. Those are the only rules, other than the fact that we have a maximum of one hour.

Please be sure to let us know what you want us for sure to ask you and to not ask you. Write these things down clearly for us and bring them with you to your interview. Also clearly write down the names of the important persons in your life and indicate how they tie into your life story.
